Meet the speakers:
Dr John Davies - BT Chief Researcher
Dr John Davies is Chief Scientist in the Future Business Technology Research practice at BT. He is currently lead researcher on a number of IoT and Smart City projects, and also has line and programme management responsibilities. His research interests include semantic technology, internet of things, linked data, knowledge management, information and retrieval and knowledge representation. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered Engineer. Earlier research at BT led to the development of a set of knowledge management tools which are the subject of a number of patents. He is co-author of the HyperCat IoT standard.
Siraj Amed Shaikh - Coventry University, Director of Research at Institute of Future Transport & Cities
Siraj is Director of Research and Professor of Systems Security at the Institute for Future Transport and Cities (IFTC) at Coventry University. From February 2015 till May 2016, he was seconded to the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), which is the innovation network in Britain. He served as cyber security lead for the KTN coordinating activities across academia, industry and national policy. From March 2015 till March 2016, he was also seconded to HORIBA MIRA, as part of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s industrial secondment scheme. In 2016, Siraj co-founded CyberOwl, which is a spinout from Coventry involved in developing an early warning system for cyber threats.
Tom Robinson - Conigital, Technical Director
Tom is Technical Director of Conigital, members of BetaDen’s Cohort 4.0 programme, a skilled Project Director with significant experience in leading both commercial and R&D programmes. Conigital are now established as a key international player within the smart mobility marketplace. Through affordable vehicle autonomy and a suite of services that enable transport authorities and organisations to optimise their fleets and provide a seamless consumer journey from door to door. Conigital have developed their own propriety algorithms to empower those businesses to manage their fleets and operations more effectively and efficiently. Therefore, improving routing and asset management to reduce their costs and carbon footprint.
