The Supply Chain Transition Programme is a key part of the West Midlands Investment Zone's ambition to deliver long-term, inclusive economic growth.

Designed specifically for manufacturing SMEs located in the Investment Zone, it is a fully funded support programme aimed at helping businesses diversify, innovate and secure new opportunities in high-growth sectors.

Funded through the West Midlands Investment Zone and the West Midlands Combined Authority, the programme provides one-to-one specialist coaching, tailored technical advice, leadership training, and access to research and development funding.


About the Programme

The Supply Chain Transition Programme is funded by West Midlands Investment Zone (WMIZ) and aims to help SMEs in the West Midlands to diversify their customer base by winning new orders in growing areas of the economy. 


It supports SMEs with:

  • Specialist 1-2-1 support to generate a focused business action plan
  • Supporting Research & Development grant applications.
  • A programme of accredited Level 4 and 5 training aligned with the action plan
  • Risk analysis, mitigation, prevention and planning
  • Mentoring
  • Opportunities to connect with buyers and key customers
  • Peer-to-peer learning

The delivery partner, Supply Smarter West Midlands Consortium, brings together six partners with extensive, industry-relevant expertise spanning advanced manufacturing research, development, innovation and training:

The Investment Zone Supply Chain Transition Programme will focus on the five priority sectors outlined below.
